Read what Paragon said. That is what you should strive for. Not the blind following of the teachings you've had in the past. We need people to be aggressively attacking their own choices for political office right now. What we have had in the past and continue to have now are blind followers with superficial comprehension on political matters.
It is unfortunate but "red vs blue" seems to be the easiest herd to cull. Don't be a member of this group. You're too easy to lie to.
As for my sanity, you have very little concept of what I actually believe politically. Part of what I do believe however is that there are groups of individuals such as yourself that are easily swayed and accept what information is handed to them in life as truth. Once beliefs are held they are considered not only absolute but absolute justice. There is no easy return from this viewpoint and any information submitted to you which is supportive of your worldview is accepted as truth or probability.
So the task those of us who share your beliefs but do not share in your trust in the delivery of those concepts by our current political forces is daunting. As long as you surrender to the next salesman in a pretty suit with dauntingly hypnotic prose the problem continues. Add to this the vitriol that consists of any discussion in these areas and we have a circular paradigm that frustratingly to myself seems unbreakable.
Fortunately, those of us who refuse to sit idly by while you decide to live in a "football pool" mindset will continue on. Eventually I hope there is a message we can all rally behind to re-enforce our original system of governance and put the issues we all share concern about into the hands of the people again. I can't expect more from people like yourself than this hope of the future. It is too easy to be outraged at a difference of opinion, even if the opinion is presented earnestly, honestly, and with intention of actual discussion. Being fickle it seems is much easier to endure than having to look at and research one's worldview - especially if such perception of reality has been held as one's beliefs for a lifetime. Never-you-mind having to actually stand up and justify one's beliefs while allowing them to be challenged.
It truly is much easier to hide behind one's ego through ridicule than it is to face such ridicule yourself.
