Ok, .. so we've had a pretty big influx of users lately, ... and once again you guys are using this place as your personal play ground to harass and make fun of these users.

And I'm getting emails of these people complaining about how you are hazing them.

So ... I've had enough.

I catch people being assholes to new users, I will institute a 1 week ban.

I'm sick of apologizing to new users for you guys.

Grow the fuck up.

This is a community, ... and it doesnt grow with you people scaring away new people, calling them narcs, making fun of them, etc.

You need to take into consideration that the people that show up here that don't know ANYBODY are already taking a big jump just posting up and trying to get to know people, ....

Hazing the fuck out of them right out of the gate is going to not want them to stick around.

And to be honest, without new blood, there will be less people @ your shows, watching you play your set.

So ya, .. just think about that one for a second.

Its true. I lurked here for a few years before I grew some balls and posted. I even saw many people like Agent and Aphter out at events and I never said anything because I was scurred...and usually on some fungus.

See and this is what I want to change, ... I want new people to be able to come up to us and introduce themselves without having the experience of being harassed on SDR no to end, ...

Over the last 2 years ive had ALOT of new people brought into my social circle, .. and I want it to keep growing, .. I love seeing our scene grow, ... and seeing new people at events.

Alot of them lurk this board, ... I was hit up by 6 or 7 people @ that party who knew who I was and read SDR ... if this trend continues I can for see ALOT of new people on SDR....

Theres no point in calling people Narcs and Cops or whatever until we have the chance to meet them, ... im not saying spill out all kinds of info we normally keep to ourselves, but I mean, pointing them to the upcoming events section and telling them to come out and say hi IS NOT HARD AT ALL.

one way to stop the narc spotters would be to not allow new users to post in the upcoming events forum. make it to where they have to have made a certian number of post prior to posting in there. this would keep noobs from asking questions about events they shouldn't when they 1 or 2 post, that brings the narc spotters, which only makes sense cause some noobs have ask really noobie questions about some of the more underground events..

ehh that really doesnt solve much.

You need to take into consideration, anything posted in the upcoming events section is PUBLIC information, .. whether its some n00bs reading it, or Cops.

This is where you need to make sure that when you post up information there, they its nothing thats going to get you in trouble, ... I do my best to moderate this place as much as possible, ...

Also stopping new people from posting in those threads is going to hinder those with appropriate questions from getting answers they need.

Giving an outsiders perspective here:
I'm far from a n00b in SD or the scene as a whole. I lurked here for over a year while I lived in Vegas (so much that I got the automated, "What you don't like us?" pm). When I decided to move here, I started posting more. But even now that I'm here, I sense some really menacing vibes. Even if they're not directed towards me. I don't know too many of you aside from the casual online chat and in all honesty, the general vibe of this site reflects that of its participants.

Now I'm not saying that you all are like this. But as an outsider coming into the SD scene again, it's not very comforting to see it all happening. I've been to a couple things since I've been here and in all honesty, I haven't felt the need to be "social". I have yet to "introduce" myself to any of you because I enjoy the anonymity I have right now. Being anonymous allows me the freedom to say what the things I want to say and divulge in the discussions I want to partake in without having to worry about it ever being "personal". As a member of this community, you should ask yourself, why would outsider like me want to meet any of you?

Contrary to what many of you might think, SDR is NOT a shining example of the scene here and it's NOT the only resource to get information regarding the scene. Now before some people get on the defensive side and see this as a "I'm better than you" post or can't see this post as a form of constructive criticism rather than shit talk, think about it... really.

You certainly don't have to worry about me crying to admins or pitching a fit over shit talk. If the vibes get overly negative, I'll simply logoff for awhile. When the conversation turns to something more worthwhile, then I'll come back.

First off.

We all know who you are Defiant, so just stop right there, ... You havent been involved in the SD scene for a *long* time, ... you are not the know all end all of EDM in SD, ... SDR is a pretty big shining example of what happens around town.

There is not 1 weekend that anyone, random or regular cannot log onto SDR and find at least 1, .. usually 2-4 events around town to attend, as well as have the chance to strike up a conversation with someone / discuss current events in the scene as this place always has a group of people on it.

Second off, yes there are other places to get information on events, but you show me 1 site that is as up to date, has as much content and focuses on the san diego EDM scene as detailed as SDR does, and has as many promoters around town posting their events up every day like SDR does. It's very rare to have an event being promoted around town and not have it up on SDR... usually the only time that happens is when they DONT want it on the net.

And don't think im sitting here tooting my own horn or anything, ... Me / Matt and everyone else involved with SDR have been working for almost 10 years to make this place a centralized hub for the san diego raver community and to be honest I don't think theres a better site out there than SDR, .. you show me some examples and i'll eat my own words.

There are ALOT of party kids in San Diego, ... and most of them drive up to LA every weekend because they have NO idea whats going on around town.

If they knew about this place and felt welcome, and didnt get some horrible treatment the second they took the plunge and posted up we would have ALOT more members, ... and ALOT more people at our shows.

This is why SDR needs an attitude adjustment, ... and im not trying to sit here and be some sort of asshole dictator or anything, ... im just asking people to be nice to the new members.

I mean honestly.

Havent you noticed the influx of new people @ events around town? ... they have to be coming from somewhere.

And im sure a decent chunk of them are finding out about these events from SDR.

I lurked here for over a year while I lived in Vegas (so much that I got the automated, "What you don't like us?" pm). When I decided to move here, I started posting more. But even now that I'm here, I sense some really menacing vibes. Even if they're not directed towards me. I don't know too many of you aside from the casual online chat and in all honesty, the general vibe of this site reflects that of its participants. Now I'm not saying that you all are like this. But as an outsider coming into the SD scene again, it's not very comforting to see it all happening. I've been to a couple things since I've been here and in all honesty, I haven't felt the need to be "social". I have yet to "introduce" myself to any of you because I enjoy the anonymity I have right now. Being anonymous allows me the freedom to say what the things I want to say and divulge in the discussions I want to partake in without having to worry about it ever being "personal". As a member of this community, you should ask yourself, why would outsider like me want to meet any of you? Contrary to what many of you might think, SDR is NOT a shining example of the scene here and it's NOT the only resource to get information regarding the scene. Now before some people get on the defensive side and see this as a "I'm better than you" post or can't see this post as a form of constructive criticism rather than shit talk, think about it... really. You certainly don't have to worry about me crying to admins or pitching a fit over shit talk. If the vibes get overly negative, I'll simply logoff for awhile.
